Placement of the chimney

You must make sure that you are installing the chimney exactly over the stove. The central area of the chimney should be placed above the furnace. Your chimney must be mounted over the primary cooking area so that the distribution of the outgoing smoke can be equalized.

Make use of the provided screws

Make use of the provided screws

With some products, you do not need to join the spigot, while others require you to join the spigot together before you fix it on the wall. If your model is a single piece, there is no need to worry about joining the two parts. Use the provided screws to attach the hood. Some chimneys come with three screws, while others come with four screws depending on what manufacturing company you’ve got your delivery from.

Fasten Chimney to the wall

Once you have attached it to the hood, there comes a time to fasten the chimney to the wall. Use the measuring tape to measure the chimney and make use of the marker pen to mark the holes on the wall. You have to be careful before you get started with your drilling action as you might damage wiring or tube inside your wall.

Once you have finally marked the position of the two holes, take the chimney off the wall so that you can drill the holes and fit the plugs accordingly. Now, it is time for the hood to be placed to the wall again, and the screw to be introduced from the inside of the machine.

You need to carry on drilling two fastening holes, screwing in the screw, and driving the in-wall until you are sure their heads are around six mm from the wall area. Before you fix the chimney to the wall permanently, you have to check if it fits well or poorly by placing it on the wall. Let’s talk about the next two holes that you need to make the position of.

Exhaust Mode

It is essential to mention that you can make use of the machine in two modes, and they are ‘exhaust mode’ and ‘recirculation mode.’ To obtain the best outcome, you are highly recommended to use it in the exhaust mode.

Exhaust mode has the potential to drive the entire exhausting air out of the kitchen only when you connect the chimney to a duct through the provided spigot – the manufacturing companies offer it as part of the hood. Besides, you must slant the duct around 10-degree downward over horizontal areas.

Duct pipe and bends

To avoid the sudden vibrating impacts, the absolute minimum diameter of the duct pipe can be 15 cm. Do not use too many bends with the ducting pipe, or you will fail to get the desired removal of smoke from the kitchen. However, it is allowable to make use of two bends with the maximally suggested duct length of 10 feet only.

Universal spigot

Universal spigot

For the sake of convenience, modern chimneys are now built-in a universal spigot so that the user can attach the exhaust pipe hassle freely. Universal Spigot offers three steps to suit 4, 5, and 6-inch diameter of the pipe. Do not forget to get help from the provided manual, which is often supported by beneficial pictures based on user requirements.

Recirculation Mode

Use a hacksaw to perform the desired cutting needed for a 5 to the 6-inch diameter of pipe so that the air can flow smoothly. In the absence of exhaust duct to the outdoors, it is advisable to use recirculation mode for the air to recycle in the kitchen after an active carbon purifies it.

Carbon Filter

In case of the unfeasibility of duct to the outdoors, you can ask for providing you with the carbon filter for an additional cost, or you should at least confirm whether or not it comes as already attachment with the chimney set. Replace the metal filters with carbon filters.

It is recommended that you insert the new carbon filters at least once in three months for efficient performance.

Duct covers

For the installment of duct covers, use the two plugs to attach the bracket and screw at the desired duct-cover height. Likewise, you can use the two screws on the bracket to screw the shot duct. Take a look at the lower area of the long duct and manage to put in the two nuts into the holes properly.

Disintegrate the duct laterals to fix the long pipe onto the shot one. Go ahead from inside the chimney and enter the provided nuts, fixing the long duct by utilizing the two screws.

Some models are built in a way that allows you to fix the long duct inserting the two screws at the duct bottom. Before turning the chimney on, you must not forget to read or note down the allowed voltage on the user manual.

Start using your chimney after installing it

Before getting started with your cooking activity, you have to leave the chimney turned on for at least 5 minutes. Also, do not forget to adjust the speed to your cooking needs.

For example, if you are going to cook something that will create a bit more smoke or steam than usual, you can adjust the speed accordingly. Conversely, you have three different speed settings that might vary from model to model and company to company.
